Jesus Rodriguez has been working with MLW for some time now, and he says he loves working with Cesar Duran & Salina De La Renta. The former Ricardo Rodriguez has been working both on-screen and in a backstage capacity with the company, something he reflected on in a recent interview with Luis Pulido for Fightful Español. You can see some highlights below:

On working with MLW: “To say that it’s incredible is to give a short justification for what it is. It’s something truly remarkable to be associated with Salina de la Renta, the businesswoman, and also with César Durán, the current president of MLW. Many already know César Durán. During his time on another project, called Lucha Underground, he gained a great deal of knowledge about Mexican wrestling and the culture of wrestlers. He discovered the flavor, what makes it special, and what makes it different. This is precisely what he has brought to this company. Now, as president, he also needs help. Who better than yours truly, Jesús Rodríguez, to be ready and available to do whatever it takes to make the company a success.”

On his behind-the-scenes work there: “I’ve been in this wrestling career, in this wrestling world, for 19 years now. It’s been 19 years since I started, at the age of 20. Thankfully, life has put me in good situations, and I have also met many incredible people from whom I have learned to great deal. Obviously, many people know me; most people know me from my time in WWE. Thanks to that time, I was learning from minds and people, from agents, from wrestlers, from any kind of person with more experience than me. Thanks to them, I was able to learn everything I have learned. A little more, I have to thank many people, obviously, like Arn Anderson, Dean Malenko, Jamie Noble, Vince McMahon, Triple H, and also those we were working with, John Cena, CM Punk, Rey Mysterio, Edge, Kane, Randy Orton, The Undertaker, El Patrón (Alberto del Rio), and from there I learned a lot and also, obviously, from life experience.

“I say he was my best teacher. From that, I learned a great deal, and now it’s my turn to give back what I’ve learned. One of my jobs with MLW is, as we mentioned, an agent. I can help younger wrestlers or wrestlers with a different way of thinking. I work closely with the women of MLW, as well as the wrestlers of the Council. And obviously, I have a long history with Místico from when I was with WWE, so that’s where we met and wrestled a lot, a lot, quite a bit, between him and me. Back then, I wore a mask and went by a name called El Local, and I had to wrestle with Místico quite a bit on tours, in Europe, in Mexico, at house shows, and on TV. I also had to work with Místico. I have that friendship with him, and it’s a pleasure, honestly, it’s a pleasure to be able to work with so much incredible talent that is Major League Wrestling.”
