John Cena Shares Image of Obi-Wan Kenobi Following Retirement Match

John Cena shared another new message on his Instagram account earlier today, seemingly in reference of his recent loss and retirement match at last weekend’s WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The Instagram post features a lone image of Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars: A New Hope, seemingly evoking a comparison between Cena and the Jedi master who met his end in the aforementioned film. Of course, as per usual with Cena’s Instagram, he refuses to add any text or context to the post.

Of course, the image of Kenobi is taken from his famous scene in Star Wars where he takes on Darth Vader in a lightsaber duel. In the scene, Kenobi famously says, “If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.”

Comparatively, John Cena faced Gunther in his final match last Saturday. Gunther defeated Cena, who ultimately tapped out to Gunther’s Sleeper Hold in a shocking finish. Of course, Kenobi later returned in the Star Wars franchise as a Force-empowered ghost, helping the young Jedi-in-training, Luke Skywalker, in his journey to learn the ways of the Force and become a Jedi Knight.

Whether or not Cena’s post hints at him possibly coming back as a mentor remains to be seen. However, Cena has recently confirmed that he is signed to WWE in a non-wrestling capacity for the next five years. He will continue appearing for WWE as an ambassador as well.
