Latest On Brock Lesnar’s Retirement At WrestleMania 42, If It’s Legitimate

A new report has some the latest on the seeming retirement of Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42 and if it’s a “true” retirement. As note, Lesnar seemingly retired following his loss to Oba Femi that kicked off night two of WrestleMania 42. He left his gloves and boots in the ring and appeared emotional as he left with Paul Heyman, who he hugged. WWE also aired a “career retrospective” video for Lesnar on WWE Raw.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has some backstage updates on the matter. The report notes that most people in WWE believed that this is not Lesnar’s “true” retirement, and no one would confirm it as such.
The site also said that they were “outright told” to treat it as an angle, and said that it came from (among others) the same person who told them that Seth Rollins’ injury from last year was a work.
The report goes in to say that Lesnar’s creative is almost always kept secret by design and that most people had expected his retirement would come at SummerSlam, which is in Minneapolis where Lesnar has deep roots.
The report, to make clear, is not definitive as to whether the retirement is an angle and does not suggest such. WWE has not specifically used the word “retire” in respect to Lesnar as of yet.
