Pro Wrestling Guerrilla All-Star Weekend 7
American Legion Hall, Reseda, CA
Bell time: 8:10
Attendance Approx: 325 – 375
1. TJ Perkins & Hook Bomberry Def Mark Davis & Ash Riot, Pinfall via pin with feet on rope
– Not a very good opener at all. TJ/Hooker did their usual thing but the debut of the Aussies was quite under whelming as they looked slow and confused. Mark Davis was the much plumper wrestler and seemed to have a little more fire than Riot, however it remains to be seen if these two will get another shot on night 2. Finish came when TJ got a take down on Davis in the corner and pinned him with both feet on the rope. *
2. Jimmy Jacobs Def Vin Gerard, Submission via End Time
– The sound system had malfunctioned so that there was no entrance music the entire night after the first match. Jimmy sang his own entrance to the year by crooning “Ballad of Lacey”. Vin Gerard was wearing old torn black tights with his old Equinox tights peaking through the rips. A very disappointing match as well considering the hype. Communication problems and flow hurt the match a bit as well as both wrestlers normally work “heel”. Gerard botched an SSP and then went for the STF multiple times, locking it in, but being unable to finish off Jacobs. Jacobs then countered a Cross Leg Brainbuster attempt into the End Time and finished Gerard after a brief struggle. Post match Jacobs offered to shake Gerard’s hand after saying that he just might be a “young Jacobs” Gerard then spat at him and ran out of the ring to avoid a beating. *1/2
3. Rocky Romero Def Alex Koslov, Submission via Cross Arm Breaker
– Fun little match involving two returning regulars. Rocky got the slightly bigger “welcome back” chant while Koslov’s chants of “Russia, Russia” were met by chants of “Georgia, Georgia”. Fun contest that managed to get the crowd back into the show and included a Chop/Kick contest that took place in and out of the ring alternatively. Rocky won after hitting the Cross Arm Breaker, which had Koslov tapping almost immediately. ***
4. “The Dynasty” Scott Lost & Joey Ryan Def “Los Luchas” Phoenix Star & Zokre, Pinfall via spinning kick to head from Lost on Zokre
– Solid, but fairly predictable match from these two teams who are definitely no strangers to each other. Much like a majority of the other matches The Dynasty pulled off the win after Lost hit a spinning back heal kick to the head of a kneeling Zokre. **
5. Roderick Strong Def Tyler Black, Submission via Stronghold (amazing match)
– Amazing match between these two in what might have been the MoTN. Absolutely brutal contest by these two as Strong brutalized Black with viscous chops while Black countered with kicks. Black looks to have been hitting the gym quite a bit and was able to stave off Strong’s attacks. Incredibly intense match that saw several near falls including a kick out by Black off a Gibson Driver, as well as a Sick Kick, Double Knee Gut buster, Sick Kick combo. Finish came off another Gibson Driver into a Strong hold by Strong. Post match Black ran down Strong and claimed that holding the tag belt meant he was better than Strong and refused to shake hands. ****

6. Chuck Taylor Def Candice LaRae, Pinfall via Omega Driver
– Pure comedy here as this was a match to get over Taylor’s heelish personality and it seemed to have worked as the crowd seemed more behind him than Candice. Taylor dominated most of the match, but was almost caught after a near fall off a “Ball Plex” by LaRae. Finish came after Taylor countered a DDT attempt into the Omega Driver for the pinfall. Post match Taylor was attempting a 2nd Omega Driver until Joey Ryan ran out from commentary and stopped him. Taylor then threatened Joey by telling him that he and his “dirty homeless friend” were going to beat he and Lost up the next night. He proceeded to shake Candice’s hand after she offered it, then licked it. The match did exactly what it was intended to do, get Sexy Chucky T over with the crowd. **1/2
7. PAC & Youngbucks (Nick & Matt Jackson) Def Kevin Steen, El Genericco, & Susumu Yokosuka, Pinfall via Twisting 360 SSP on Steen
– PAC looks “well”…extremely “well”. Match began with Steen ripping on PAC for the big “welcome back” chant he was getting and the ‘Bucks for being such favorites in Japan. This match was wrestled under “Dragon Gate Rules”, meaning tags weren’t necessarily required. Good back and forth match that saw each team targeting one member (Generico, Matt) in a gang style beating. Eventually this broken down into a fun little spotfest, which helped highlight just how much sharper PAC looked since his stay in DG. Exactly the kind of mindless fun you’d expect from the participants as finishers were flying all over the place like a Bukkake Buffet. Finish came after the ‘Bucks hit “More Bang for your Buck” on Steen and after Matt had to roll Steen back into position after a long wait, PAC hit the 360 Twisting SSP for the pinfall. Post match Steen venting on PAC on the ‘Bucks getting so much attention after Steen busted his ass for years to get where he was in PWG, then put them over as the Future of PWG and wrestling. ***3/4
PWG World Championship Title Match 4-way
8. Chris Hero (c) Def Eddie Kingston, Necro Butcher, & Low Ki, Pinfall via Roaring Elbow on Kingston while Ki had Necro locked in Dragon Clutch
– Match broke down almost immediately as Kingston ran from the ring after a short beat down as a result of talking smack to each man. Eventually Necro and Hero decided to split up and Necro chased Kingston, only to be stopped by the Venue’s drunken owner. The match got a bit hard to follow from there as the formula seemed to be 2 men in the ring, 2 men outside. Kingston played the only “heel” in this match and had a short period of domination in the middle. At one point each man got a close two count, but was never able to contain the others. Finish came when Low Ki had Necro locked in the “Dragon Sleeper Clutch” but as Kingston went to break up the pin he was caught was a Yakuza kick and then a Roaring Elbow for the pin before Low Ki was able to break his hold and break up the pin attempt. Confusing match, but entertaining. The crowd actually booed the decision after Hero was declared the winner. Post match Hero ran down Kingston, called him a “piece of trash”, and got into what might have been a brief “shoot fight” with King that had to be broken up by the ring announcer, refs, and Excalibur. Hero then proceeded to acknowledge the negative reaction from the fans and “lecture” them about how hard he worked, how much he was willing to take any competitors on and how he loved PWG and the fans. Eventually winning most of the fans back in the process. He then shook hands with Necro and Ki and offered them another title shot “anytime” since he actually only pinned one man that night. Interesting note is that Hero has grown out a bit of stubble and this has been the first time in recent member that a “face champ” has gotten a largely bad reaction after a title retention in PWG. ***
