Live Report From The NXT Takeover: London Special

December 17, 2015 | Posted by Larry Csonka

Thanks to 411 reader Sam Clarke for the following report…

I’m a Londoner and was at NXT Takeover last night, i’m sure you don’t need me to tell you that it was a hell of a show to experience live!

A lot of people in the comments section of your review have been asking about the chants from the crowd, which were LOUD live and in person.. Wembley Arena has some amazing acoustics. Anyway below I’ve listed the different chants that happened throughout the show:

– (pre taping for NXT TV) fatal four way tag match: Chad Gable and Jason Jordan got a huge chant that started outside the arena. There are two football players in England called Yaya Toure and Kolo Toure (brothers from the Ivory Coast) who have a chant, search for it on YouTube because it’s great. This was adopted for the Gable and Jordan chant. It’s to the tune of “No Limit” by 2 Unlimited and basically as “Gable, Gable Gable, Gable Gable, Gable Gable, GABLE GABLE GABLE, Jordan, Jordan Jordan, Jordan Jordan, JORDAN JORDAN JORDAN” (Gable and JOrdan were clearly over the moon with it and joined in after the bell).

– Asuka v Emma: The crowd was very in to Asuka. There was an “Ole” chant ending in her name, and a slightly less PG “fuck her up Asuka fuck her up.”

– Enzo & Cass v The Mechanics: Best chants of the night. Enzo got a big “ooooh Enzo Amore” chant to the tune of Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes. Then of course there was the “Na na na na Big Cass” chant to the tune of Hey Jude. Then there were “Are you Dawson, Are you Dash” chants to the “lets go Cena, Cena sucks” tune aimed at the Mechanics, as well as a “are you Dawson in disguise” chant when Dash was in the ring.

– Corbin v Crews: This was the least engaged that the crowd were with what was happening in the ring. There was a “Fuck you Crobin” chant and a “Corbin is a wanker nah nah nah nah” chant, which he reacted to well in the heel role. The crowd was absolutely on fire for the tag match before this bout, so the energy was less there with this one.

– Bayley v Nia Jax: Bayley was over like gangbusters! The “Heyyy hey Bayley, ooh ahh, I wanna knoooww if you’ll be my girl.” chant to the tune of Bruce Channel’s “Hey Baby” was deafening in person, not sure how it came across on TV. Bayley got reaction of the night and the crowd popped big for her win.

– Finn v Joe: The crowd was hot for this but didn’t really bring any football chants to this one, just the regular “Finn” and “Joe’s gonna kill you” chant. Finn’s entrance got a “Holy Shit” chant and midway through the match they got a loud “This is Wrestling” chant. Big pop for the win and great ovation for Finn when he held up the title at the end.

Overall this was by far the best wrestling crowd I’ve been a part of. Everybody stuck to the face/heel alignments which felt refreshing, I guess that’s what happens when you give solid story lines and match-ups to talented performers.
