Backstage Reaction to Niño Hamburguesa Returning to AAA at Triplemania 34

A new report has shed light on WWE rehiring former AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champion Niño Hamburguesa after firing him earlier this year.
Hamburguesa, who was fired this past March after footage of him attacking a fan at an indie event went viral, returned to Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide at Triplemania 34 Night Two. The 30-year-old was revealed as the final entrant in the Copa Bardahl, which was ultimately won by Omos.
At the time of his firing, media reports claimed that people backstage at AAA weren’t pleased because they felt Hamburguesa was a “good, hard worker.” In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio [accessed by WrestlingInc], Dave Meltzer reported that people backstage weren’t surprised to see Hamburguesa return. According to Meltzer, everyone knew that Niño would eventually make a comeback, and WWE only fired him to send a message to the roster that attacking fans is unacceptable.
“Everyone knew he would be back because everyone liked him. They felt like they had to fire him because they felt like they had to send a message to everybody that you can’t elbow fans in the face,” Meltzer said.
Despite his best attempts, Niño Hamburguesa failed to get rid of Omos and was the last to be eliminated from Copa Bardahl.
