AEW Grand Slam Mexico will return this year, but not in the same timeframe as last year’s version according to a new report. Last year’s show took place in Arena Mexico in Mexico City on June 18th, and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has an update on plans for this year’s iteration.
According to Dave Meltzer, this year’s show will take place at Arena Mexico but will take place “later in the year.” It was not specified how much later or whether the specific window has been decided on by AEW and CMLL.
The return of Grand Slam Mexico is no surprise. Tony Khan said in an appearance on Q101 in December that the show would return in 2026, noting, “We have amazing partners in CMLL, so I would want to work with them, and we’re going to work with them. So Grand Slam Mexico will be back in 2026 and I’m just pleased that they’ll have us.”
Last year’s Grand Slam Mexico featured MJF defeating Mistico by DQ, Mercedes Mone winning the CMLL Women’s World Title from Zeuxis, and a big main event in which Will Ospreay, the Opps, and Swerve Strickland battled the Death Riders, the Young Bucks, and The Beast Mortos.
