Paul Walter Hauser credits the ROH crew for easing some of his nerves for his match at ROH Death Before Dishonor. As noted, Hauser battled QT Marshall in a Fight Without Honor at the event and came out with a loss. Hauser spoke during the post-show about his match and noted that he wasn’t nervous because of the crew and how he believed in the story.
“I always used to do stand-up comedy and theater, and I would get nervous before that, nervous before auditions,” Hauser said. “I think tonight was my 20th — I’d have to check the Cagematch website or whatever, but I think I’ve had about 20 matches. So I’m usually violently nervous before the match and I’m terrified. Tonight, something about the crew here from props to catering, to people doing photography. It felt like I was on one of the best movie sets I’ve ever been on. It really is a team sport, everyone came together to make me feel welcome and prepared.”
He continued, “And weirdly enough, I wasn’t as nervous as I became very excited. And I really believed in the story we were telling, the underdog outsider in this world of some of the best wrestling stars alive. I think we told a good story. And at the end of the day… whether you were with us from the beginning or you were just tuning in tonight and didn’t know what to expect, we were able to tell a story in the ring. And that’s a feat into itself, it’s not always easy.”
