Ric Flair appeared on the Ariel Helwani Show this week and discussed a variety of topics, including his final conversations with Hulk Hogan before Hogan passed away last Thursday. Flair noted that Hogan didn’t mention the bad shape he was in when they spoke. Highlights of his comments are below.
On how he reached out to Hogan regarding a business deal: “Well, I called him, not gonna mention any names, I called him three times and talked to him in the last month because I thought he was getting involved in a situation that would not, is not right for him business-wise, because I knew who he was getting in business with. For once, he didn’t heed my warning, and then he got hit with that $10 million lawsuit. That’s a lot. But the one thing about Hulk, he’s always been represented and smarter than anybody in the business, and that is not to be denied. He’s been a tremendous businessman. But this guy that jerked him around this time, ya know, sometimes you just wanna believe so much, and then you try so hard, and he’s such a giving guy, people don’t realize, Hogan was doing Make-A-Wish before Make-A-Wish was Make-A-Wish.”
On if Hogan told him he was hurting when they spoke: “No, not at all, he didn’t mention it at all. The guy brought me a word as to what, Jimmy Hart, and Jimmy and I have been close forever, and I’m sure he’s devastated right now, and I literally talked to Jimmy the day before he passed, and he said Hulk was fine, then the next day we all got the news.”
