Ricochet Defends Notion Of ‘Finisher Spam’ In Wrestling Matches

Ricochet is pushing back against criticism of “finisher spam” in pro wrestling, arguing that it gives more suspense to in-ring action. The AEW star posted to Twitter on Thursday to comment on a claim by Booker T on his Hall of Fame podcast that the overuse of finishers in modern wrestling undermines the impact of the finishers. Ricochet retweeted the post initially and wrote:
“Say you’ve never watched DragonBall Z without saying you’ve never watched DragonBall Z.”
When a fan argued that it happens in “literally every match” in AEW and is excessive, Ricochet responded:
“I disagree.
It gives more suspense. Because in other promotions we KNOW the match isnt gonna end until someone hits their ONLY move that ends the match. So everyone is just sitting and waiting until that one move, knowing the match isn’ t gonna end until that happens.”
Ricochet last competed for AEW on the May 27th episode of AEW Dynamite, where he lost a match to his rival Chris Jericho.
