Speaking to Adrian Hernandez at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, WWE Superstar Royce Keys discussed preparing for his WWE debut, Triple H sending him a full gym set to help him get ready, and more. Below are some highlights:
Royce Keys on How He’s Feeling in WWE
“Things was a little different, you know, but you know, I’m great. I don’t even think great is the word I’m looking for. What’s the word Snoop said? Exuberant. I’m feeling good, man. And you know, I’m waking up every day, you know, just living the dream. You know, I got new goals here, you know, things I’m going to do. So, I can’t complain. This is WrestleMania, man.”
On How Las Vegas Is Different for WrestleMania
“I mean, it’s I’ve been to Vegas, but Vegas is different when you’re here for WrestleMania, you know, like it’s different from when you’re coming to watch it, but actually being a part of it and actually working for the company, it’s different. I feel like a kid, man. You know, like I’m sitting on my grandma’s floor in the den getting ready to, you know, watch wrestling, you know? So, it’s amazing.”
“I don’t think I slept the night before, just going to the airport, getting on that first flight. Okay, it’s happening. Getting on that second flight, just landing in Saudi, then having someone wait for me in my hotel. I’m like, and I’ve told this before, I had to stay in my hotel. Like, I complained and and and Hunter had a full gym delivered to me in my whole in my whole little living room. My living room was rearranged into a gym. I was pumping in and had to get that pump on. He a gym guy, so he knows how it is. But that next morning, waking up, getting in the car, going in my room, it it was it was crazy. Like, it’s like I sit back and watch clips, and I watch the Rumble. I’m like, man, golly, that’s me. That’s me walking down there and getting in Damian Priest’s face, getting in Cody’s face, you know, is wild.”
On What Cody Rhodes Is Dealing With Against Pat McAfee and Randy Orton
“I look at it like this. You know, I never — the way I was raised. You never bite the hand that feeds you, right? So Cody has been there through me through the good and through the bad in my life. And he said this on the interview a couple days ago. I pulled him aside. This is for real. I pulled him aside and let him know like I got your back. like if we got to throw down, you know, we throwing down.”
Keys also noted on his WWE run, “I’m taking everything I want. As simple as that. From the top to the bottom, long as if you step in between those ropes, it is what it is.:
