Rumor Killer On Heel Turn Plans For Cody Rhodes

A new report is shooting down rumor and speculation that WWE is planning to turn Cody Rhodes heel in the near future. There has been a rise in rumors online that the former Undisputed WWE Champion was being set up for a heel turn in recent weeks, particularly given his adversarial nature Nick Aldis on WWE Smackdown. However, those rumors seem to be baseless as The WON reports that Rhodes is not currently planned for a heel turn anytime soon.
The report notes that according to sources in the company, any such turn is not happening soon and will not until WWE feels they have to do it. The report notes that such a situation is coming “no time soon” and that Rhodes’ merchandise sales are doing very well, which WWE does not plan to mess with.
Rhodes had taken on an edge in his promos opposite Nick Aldis on WWE Smackdown during his feud with Drew McIntyre, telling the Smackdown GM late last month in a promo that “I don’t work for you, I work for them. And you, my friend, you work for me.” Rhodes lost the championship to Drew McIntyre on the January 9th episode of WWE Smackdown and has since begun feuding with Jacob Fatu for getting involved in that match.
Rhodes will face Fatu in a singles match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
