Swerve Strickland On Why ‘New Level’ Was the Perfect Entrance Theme For AEW All In

Swerve Strickland and The New Level came out at AEW All In to A$AP Ferg’s “The New Level,” and Strickland says it was perfect for more than the obvious reason. The trio came out for the Royal Roulette at All In, which was Austin Creed and Kofi’s AEW debut. The three won the Trios Championship in the match.

There’s an obvious reason why it was the right song for the moment, considering Creed and Kofi’s new tag team name. But Strickland spoke on Hot 97 about how it was thematically perfect for them. You can see highlights below:

On Coming Out To the Song:

“A$AP always — especially that song, that brought that energy, the rock record. And this is London, so it’s not like an American audience. There’s like parts of America, but there’s like overseas, UK fans so they want to just hear energy. They just want to feel energy, and that record brought it instantly.

“They got that song like 24 hours beforehand from Ferg’s team. They’re like, ‘Yeah, we approve it,’ and all that stuff. So it was like, [a] perfect world storm of just like all these things. The momentous occasion, people feel like they’re watching history at this time. So the sound was historic.”

On How the Song Fit The Moment:

“The song, like New Level’s what, 2018? So it’s like almost 10 years [old] which is crazy, saying that. It’s almost 10 years old, and it feels new still. So it’s like, ‘Old thing, but make it new again.’ and it feels refreshed. So it helps both sides. Like, it brings A$AP Ferg right back, ‘New Level’ to the forefront of things, and then it brings like New Level — you can say Kofi and Creed was like an older act. It brings them, it’s refreshed. Swerve’s been around in AEW for four years. I main evented Wembley Stadium the last time we were there in 2024. I’m joining a trios for the Trios Championship, I’m new and refreshed. So it just brings new life to the whole thing, full circle.”
