The Rock Gets Emotional After Standing Ovation For The Smashing Machine At Venice Film Festival

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson got emotional at the Venice Film Festival premiere of The Smashing Machine after it got a long standing ovation. The Benny Safdie-directed Mark Kerr biopic premiered at the Venice, Italy festival on Monday and the film received a 15-minute standing ovation from the audience, leading to the WWE and film star crying at the reaction.
Lengthy ovations are the norm for the prestigious film festivals these days including at Venice, Cannes, and Toronto International Film Festival. That said, the ovation for the film outlasted other big premieres this year including those of After The Hunt, Bugonia, No Other Choice, and Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein.
Early reviews is largely quite positive and Johnson has recieved hefty praise for his performance as the UFC fighter. The Smashing Machine, released through A24, hits theaters on October 3rd.
