TKO President Mark Shapiro says that the company believes their remaining events for WWE and UFC in the Middle East will proceed as planned. The company has this weekend’s WWE Crown Jewel taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as well as UFC Fight Night: Prochazka vs. Stirling in Qatar on November 21st. The events are of course taking place against the backdrop of security concerns in the region, with the US State Department having released alerts warning of potential risk due to the Iran War.
Shapiro spoke about the matter on the TKO Q3 earnings call. He noted that they are monitoring the matter but intend to fulfill their commitment to the events.
“On the Middle East, while we continue to monitor the situation closely, as of today, we fully anticipate our remaining events will proceed as planned,” Shapiro said (per Fightful). “WWE Crown Jewel returns to Riyadh this weekend, and UFC Fight Night comes to Doha on November 21st, and Riyadh in early December.”
WWE Crown Jewel takes place on November 7th in Riyadh, and airs live on ESPN Unlimited in the US as well as on Netflix internationally.
