Tommaso Ciampa Captures TNT Championship in AEW In-Ring Debut

Tommaso Ciampa had a memorable AEW in-ring debut on tonight’s Collision, as he defeated Mark Briscoe to capture the TNT Championship.

The match proved to be a back-and-forth affair, with both competitors bringing the fight to each other. Ciampa eventually got the job done via a German Suplex followed by a running knee. Briscoe’s reign ends at 71 days. He captured the title from Kyle Fletcher at Full Gear last November.

The former WWE Superstar was greeted with “You deserve it” chants from the crowd. His victory means that Tommaso Ciampa is only one of the two wrestlers (after Mercedes Mone) to capture championship gold in their debut in-ring outing in AEW. Mone famously captured the TBS Championship in her debut outing at Double or Nothing 2024.

After the match, former TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher came out to put the newly crowned champion on notice.

Tommaso Ciampa arrived in All Elite Wrestling this past Wednesday on Dynamite, where he came out to answer Mark Briscoe’s Open Challenge. Following his appearance, Tony Khan revealed that he has signed with the company.

The Psycho Killer departed WWE a few days ago after opting against signing a new deal. He has since opened up about leaving WWE for AEW.
