Tony Khan Has No Interest in Acquiring TNA Wrestling for $40 Million

During today’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door media conference call, AEW President Tony Khan was asked about rumors of TNA Wrestling being up for sale. Recently, sports business analyst Blake Avignon reported that Anthem Sports & Entertainment CEO Len Asper put TNA Wrestling on sale, with the company looking to sell it for $40-$50 million, and $30 million being the floor price.
During the media call, Khan was asked by Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston if he had any interest in acquiring TNA Wrestling. Khan then asked Thurston to set a price, and Thurston named a price of $40 million.
Khan laughingly responded, “No.” He explained further, “It has value. It would have to be the right price. The video library has a lot of great wrestlers over the years. Certainly not the top priority for me as an acquisition right now. It’s not something I’ve had any serious conversations about.”
The AEW CEO added, “Like a lot of things in life, it could be an interesting purchase if the price was right, but isn’t that true of so many things in life? There are a lot of excellent automobiles that I would love to have in my garage, but it would depend on the price. At ($40 million), no, absolutely not.
So, it appears fans shouldn’t expect Tony Khan to buy TNA anytime soon. Khan and AEW previously collaborated with TNA Wrestling (formerly Impact Wrestling) starting in 2020, and it ran through most of 2021. Khan even appeared in ads for AEW during episodes of Impact Wrestling on AXS TV.
Sources: Anthem’s Len Asper has set a $30M floor for a potential sale of @ThisIsTNA, w/ his preferred price in the $40M – $50M range. The premium reflects toxic debt on Anthem’s books that any buyer would be expected to absorb. No deal is imminent, but the number is out there.… pic.twitter.com/mKflPggRHt
