– During a recent edition of What Happened When, AEW broadcaster Tony Schiavone discussed the upcoming final match for Sting next month at AEW Revolution and why it will be an emotional night for him, noting his long history with Sting going back for decades. Below are some highlights (via Fightful):
Tony Schiavone on Sting’s upcoming last match: “Yeah, in many ways, it’s going to be. Sting’s family’s going to be there. He’s invited a couple of his friends to be there. So it is. It’s gonna be an emotional night for me, and it’s gonna be an emotional night for Ric Flair, who’s gonna be there as well, and the fact that, you think about Sting and Flair, Clash of the Champions, I was there to call it, and how much the Greensboro Coliseum means to me as a wrestling fan, that was my go-to place during all my fandom back in the 70s. It means a lot to me. So with that in mind, I really personally look forward to that night.”
On being a part of Sting’s career: “I’m so honored to be a part of Sting’s career, Flair’s career, and many wrestlers’ careers. Arn, Tully, Barry Windham, Midnight Express, Jim Cornette, all of that. You see some photos of them, there I am, holding the mic. It was a wonderful time. It was a good time, and I miss it.”
At AEW Revolution, Sting and Darby Allin will defend the AEW Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks in a Tornado Tag Match. The show is scheduled for Sunday, March 3 at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. It will be broadcast live on pay-per-view.
