Trick Williams says he’s been bulking up and studying the classics since he arrived on the WWE main roster in order to improve his skills. The WWE star arrived on the main roster in January and joined the Smackdown brand. Williams has done well in the transition so far but he’s always looking to improve, as he noted in an interview on My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox.

Williams spoke about adding some weight to his frame, noting that that’s what something the guys who have carried WWE had. He also noted that he studies old-school stars in order to improve himself. You can see the highlights below:

On Increasing His Size:

“I done put on about 10, 15 more pounds. I’m throwing my weight around a little bit more now. I’m feeling myself. You know what I mean? Because you know, I’m the new guy on the block and I already knew man, like I need to set tone now. I need to set a precedence for myself right away, right out the gate. I ain’t trying to be on my back foot 24/7…

“I gotta put on 10, 15 pounds, because that’s what the heavyweight championship looks like. If you look at the history of the guys who are really carrying the brand of WWE in the past. Right now it’s Drew McIntyre, you know what I mean? Like, Cody Rhodes is a big guy. Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar. These are heavyweight guys. These are the Lions, Tigers, Bears, oh my of the business. And if you want to be a big dog, you got to put on that weight.”

On Who He Studies To Improve:

“Me personally, I have a old soul. So like I love going back and watching the history of things, the classics. I mean, hence my style, you know what I mean? I have a very old-school — I mean, did we get a shot of the lemon peppers steppers? Like, this is — I love old school things, man. And old is new.

“So I love going back, man. I watch a Dusty Rhodes, man. I’ll watch a Macho Man. I watch all these different guys. Superstar Billy Graham. I enjoy watching the classics, because they had it figured out. They were great at what they did. True showmen.”
