Update On Cyndi Lauper’s Relationship With WWE Amid Action Figure Reveal

WWE’s relationship with Cyndi Lauper has been strained for a number of years, but a new report suggests that it has changed as of late. Lauper is arguably the biggest name not inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame celebrity wing, having been a major part of the company’s Rock N’ Wrestling connection in the 1980s. She has yet to be inducted despite many calls by fans for such, and Lauper has said that the relationship got “weird” on WWE’s end.
Despite that, she has consistently said that she is open to working with the company again. Lauper was thrust back into the WWE spotlight this week when it was announced she was getting her first WWE action figure from Mattel Creations at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, and Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select reports that the relationship between the two parties has thawed, according to sources.
The report cites those sources as saying that a WWE Hall of Fame induction is considered more likely than ever, though, as of now, the relationship is strictly limited to licensing, and that a 2027 induction is not expected for the pop icon. There are more licensing ventures for Lauper from WWE planned for the future.
Lauper made a number of appearances for WWE in the early 1980s, feuding with Captain Lou Albano and managing Wendy Richter for her WWF Women’s Championship win over Fabulous Moolah at The Brawl to End It All on MTV. She also appeared at WrestleMania I, where Richter regained the title from Leilani Kai. Lauper’s involvement in WWE is credited with helping launch the company in the mainstream.
