WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2025 takes place later today, and The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has an update on what to expect from the event. The Observer reports that there is a belief that a major tease of the top WrestleMania match, or matches, will take place at today’s premium live event.
It’s rumored that Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins was originally planned for WrestleMania. However, with Rollins currently sidelined with a shoulder injury, that matchup may now be turned into something else.
As previously reported, Seth Rollins told Bert Kreischer on Something’s Burning that his WrestleMania status is “TBD,” and his doctors’ diagnosis of six months of recovery put him “right on the cusp” of WrestleMania 42. Meanwhile, Reigns teased on Raw that he would go after the World Title, but he didn’t say if it would be versus CM Punk or Cody Rhodes.
Also, during his opinion on ESPN First Take, Paul Heyman teased that Survivor Series will serve as an “informercial for WrestleMania.” Heyman stated on the event, “This is our audition for the world to come to Vegas for WrestleMania, at the same time, giving the most bang for the buck and the greatest War Games of all time.”
Additionally, The Observer reports that all the key booking decisions for the top stars in the company involve building matches for them tentatively planned for both WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas and WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia. It’s unknown what those matches will be beyond the originally planned matchup featuring Reigns vs. Rollins, which could be off the table.
However, The Observer notes that Reigns’ hint at challenging for the title is the current planned direction for WrestleMania 42. Fans can likely expect more hints from the Men’s WarGames match, which will feature Reigns, Rhodes, and Punk all on the same team.
WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2025 takes place later today at Petco Park in San Diego, California. It will air live on the ESPN App in the U.S. and on Netflix internationally.
