UPDATEDx3: Jerry Lawler Involved in Head-On Collision
UPDATE 3: Jerry Lawler discussed his car accident from last night with WWE.com. Lawler said that he was okay but that his girlfriend may have a concussion.
“I’m fine, but Lauryn is pretty banged up,” he said. “We had taken care of the trick-or-treaters and went for pizza right near the house. We were coming home to catch the end of the University of Memphis game. I was sitting at a red light at a busy intersection not a minute from my house. I got the green arrow to make a left turn. I started making the turn and I saw the car coming, not slowing down at all. The driver ran a red light.”
He added, “Lauryn was in the ER for four hours. Her face is really, really swollen on the left side. They also put her in a leg brace and knee immobilizer. I think she has a concussion because this morning when she got up, she fell down and saw stars and black spots.”
UPDATE 2: ProWrestlingSheet.com reports that the driver of the car who crashed into Lawler’s vehicle was not under the influence. A rep for the Memphis Police Department said the vehicle Lawler was in was hit on its right, front side. All parties in the accident reportedly refused medical treatment at the scene.
Police officers determined the other driver in the collision was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. She was cited for running a red light. Per the report, no further investigation will be taking place.
UPDATE 1: PWInsider has more on the story, reporting that the accident occurred after another driver ran a red light and plowed into them. Lawler was unharmed, though Lauryn hurt her knee and had swelling in her face due to the airbag deploying.
