Your ring announcer for the evening is Dasha Kuret. Greg Hamilton is your in arena host and MC.

– The show opens up with Sami Zayn coming out and cutting a promo, putting over the Orlando crowd and talking about how NXT has grown and sold out shows in Columbus, Cleveland, and San Jose and it wouldn’t have been possible without the people of Orlando. He then went on to talk about how the last month wasn’t so great to him and that he was disappointed he was not medically cleared to compete in all of those big shows. He says he has a rematch due and he’s going to win his title back from Kevin Owens. This brought out Tyler Breeze who claimed he was the number 1 contender. Bull Dempsey came out and said that while everyone else was pulling the load, Sami was sitting at home and Bull should be the number 1 contender. Baron Corbin came out, and stared them down. Corey Graves came out and said he anticipated something like this would happen and he called William Regal. Smi Zayn would compete in a number 1 contender’s match, but his opponent would be the winner of a Battle Royal held tonight.

Match 1: Battle Royal. Competitors listed by order of elimination: Noah Pang-Potjes (doing a Hawaiin gimmick, complete with lei’s and hula music), Sunny Dhinsa, Sammy Piscatelli, Josh Woods, Steve Cutler, Sawyer Fulton, Marcus Louis, Tye Dillinger, Angelo Dawkins, Mike Rallis, Elias Samson, Colin Cassady, Simon Gotch, Enzo Amore, Bull Dempsey, Tyler Breeze, Dash Wilder, Aiden English, and Baron Corbin (thanks to some help from Tyler Breeze). Winner: Scott Dawson who goes on to face Sami Zayn later tonight.

Match 2: Solomon Crowe def. Chad Gable. Good, solid match. Dillinger came out and held up the number 2. This will be explained a bit later.

Match 3: Bayley and Alexa Bliss def. Dana Brooke and Carmella. Bayley wins with the Bayley to Belly suplex. There were a lot of fun spots meant to get crowd reaction and the fans ate it up. You can tell Brooke and Carmlla are still very much works in progress. At one point, Brooke went to take a head scissors from Bliss and didn’t quite get flipped over and it looked like she nearly knocked herself silly. Still, it was an entertaining match.

Match 4: Tyler Breeze def. Baron Corbin. Breeze won with a rollup and his feet on the ropes. A bit of a rough match in places. You can tell Baron still needs work in places, but not a bad match by any means. After the match, Baron lays out Tyler with the End of Days.

Intermission.

Match 5: Finn Balor def. Tye Dillinger. Fantastic match and probably the best I’ve seen out of Dillinger in the ring yet. He is working a new gimmick where he comes out with a sign with the number 10 printed on it and saying that he is a “Perfect 10”. It’s fun and simple and just might work.

Match 6: Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady def. Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy and The Vaudevillains in a non-title three way match. Solid match and The Vaudevillains work so much better as fun babyfaces. It just suits them better. Enzo gets the win with the splash off the top rope.

Match 7: Sasha Banks def. Becky Lynch and Charlotte in a three way match. Fantastic stuff. These girls always deliver. Sasha gets with win when Charlotte hits Becky with Natural Selection, but Sasha throws her out of the ring and steals the pin.

Before the main event, Kevin Owens comes out and says that he is the main event. He says it doesn’t matter who the number 1 contender is, he will have the title for as long as feels like holding it. Sami comes out and says he can’t wait to kick Owens’ ass and regain his NXT title. Owens says Sami can’t hit him. Owens had knee surgery recently and hasn’t been cleared to compete, so if Sami hits him, there would be consequences. Owens says Sami should worry about who’s behind Sami as Scott dawson attacks from behind. This led to…

Match 8: Sami Zayn def. Scott Dawson to become the number 1 contender for the NXT championship. The end comes when Sami hits the exploder suplex in the corner on Dawson, Dash Wilder comes in to try and help, gets suplexed into Dawson, and Sami hits the Helluva Kick for the pin. Really fantastic stuff out of these two. dawason is such and underutilized talent and I’m glad he got a chance to shine. There were a lot of near falls and quality wrestling. After the match, Sami shook Dawson’s hand and put him over.

Another fun night of action:

Notes:
– Several NXT talents made their debuts in the Orlando Armory and were in the Battle Royal. These talents were: Noah Pang-Potjes, Sunny Dhinsa, Sammy Piscatelli, and Josh Woods. A lot of these talents normally work security at these events and it was cool to see them get a little bit of ring time.
– Tonight was also the Orlando debut as a ring announcer for Dasha Kuret.
– Show was a sellout with standing room only. Meet and Greet before the show was with: Dana Brooke, Solomon Crowe, Becky Lycnh and Bull Dempsey.
– One funny moment from the Meet and Greet came when Greg Hamilton was asking different fans about their favorite moments from this year’s Wrestlemania. One fan said his was the NWO coming out and he was disappointed they lost. Billy Gunn came out from behind the curtain and got on the mic, saying that he beat up Kevin Nash and basically having some fun with this fan.
– NXT comes back to the Orlando Armory on May 9th
