Robert Whiteford Says He’s Getting Better With Time
– Robert Whiteford spoke with mmajunkie.com prior to tomorrow’s fight with Lucas Martins (15-3 MMA, 3-3 UFC), here are the highlights…
On Losing to Darren Elkins at UFC Fight Night 76: “I don’t think I’ve fought anybody harder than him. Every time I got back to my feet, I thought one more shot, and I’ll put him to sleep, but it didn’t work out that way, and sometimes that’s the way the cookie crumbles.”
On Staying Humble: “One elevator, left, and I was in the gym,” he said. “I wake up, have a coffee, and look at the gym, and I’ve got to pinch myself. Because the gym back home, it rains, and the water comes in through the ceiling. I stay humble and remember where I came from.”
On His Improvement: “For me, the fight game is getting easier,” he said. “It’s not like I’m getting in any new environment or new situation. Like a fine Scotch whisky, I get better as time goes on.”
