Brian Kendrick Talks With Michael Cole About His Long Road Back to WWE
Brian Kendrick was the guest for this week sit-down interview with Michael Cole. Kendrick spoke with Cole about his return to WWE as part of the Cruiserweight Classic and joining the Raw Cruiserweight division. Kendrick said it’s all been a bit of a dream and when Cole asked him if he looks back at the past, Kendrick said he does and that his past experiences with WWE were were good times. He said that he is confident in who he is today. Cole asked about rumors that Kendrick was going to be a coach at the Performance Center and Kendrick confirmed there were talks, but that he kept saying he’s still a wrestler and he wouldn’t be satisfied serving as only a coach.
Cole talked about Kendrick’s performance in the Cruiserweight Classic, particularly his match with Kota Ibushi and his sendoff with Daniel Bryan. Kendrick said the sendoff was bittersweet because he thought that was going to be it for in in WWE but that he was grateful for the opportunity and it all worked out because he’s on Raw now.
Cole asked about Kendrick’s match against TJ Perkins at Clash of Champions for the Cruiserweight Title and Kendrick cut off Cole in the midst of talking about Perkins’ “Cinderella story.” Kendrick said that Perkins may have been homeless, but so were half the guys in the back. He said Perkins hasn’t given up anything more than the other talents, including him, and he’s sick of hearing about it because it leaves a bad taste in his mouth. He said they’ll only be talking about him after Sunday night.
