Stefan Struve Discusses His UFC 222 Fight
MMAjunkie recently spoke to UFC heavyweight fighter Stefan Struve this week ahead of his bout with Andrei Arlovski later today. Struve faces Andrei Arlovski at UFC 222 later today. Below are some highlights.
Stefan Struve on losing in his home country against Alexander Volkov: “It really hurt that I lost in my home country in front of a full arena that was there for me. But it is what it is. He was the better man that night, and that’s it.”
Struve on how the fight went: “I was really fired up. It was a little over a year after my knockout, and the arena just exploded. It was crazy. I knew that energy was going to be there again, and I wanted to relive that. I started off with a pace I normally don’t start like that. I wanted to put him out in the first round. I came close a couple of times. I hit him with a knee under his eye. A couple of inches to the left or right, it could have knocked him out.”
His thoughts on Andrei Arlovski: “He’s going headhunting, simple as that. We’ll see how aggressive he’s going to be. I just need to be first. I believe if I land clean, he’s going down.”
