Ray Winstone Joins Black Widow in Mystery Role

The Marvel Cinematic Universe now includes The Departed’s Ray Winstone, who has signed onto the Black Widow solo film. Deadline reports that Winstone is set to play a mystery role in the film, which will center on Scarlett Johansson’s Avenger. Winstone joins a cast that includes Johansson, O-T Fagbenle, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, and Rachel Weisz.

Marvel Studios has yet to officially announce the film, much like the rest of their Phase Four plans. However, the film is currently in production in London, with Cate Shortland directing from a script by Jac Schaeffer. The film is believed to be a prequel to Iron Man 2, covering the time between Natasha’s joining SHIELD and her time as a KGB assassin from the infamous “Red Room.”
