Next Paranormal Activity Film, Pet Sematary Prequel Headed To Paramount+
Paramount+ will be the exclusive home to several upcoming feature films, including the next Paranormal Activity and a Pet Sematary prequel. Deadline reports that the streaming service, which is rebranding from CBS All-Access and relaunches on March 4th, will premiere three to four feature films a year from Paramount.
The initial titles set to be produced for the service include the new Paranormal Activity, which is being produced by Blumhouse and is written by Christopher Landon. Landon, known these days for directing the Happy Death Day films and Freaky, co-wrote the first four sequels from Paranormal Activity 2 through Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. Will Eubank (Underwater) will direct the film.
Also in the works are an origin story based on Pet Sematary, which Jeff Buhler is writing, and Arie Posin’s The In Between. That film was written by Marc Klein and stars Joey King, Kyle All-Access, John Ortiz, and Kim Dickens. It is described as follows:
“After surviving a car accident that took the life of her boyfriend, a teenage girl believes he’s attempting to reconnect with her from the afterworld.”
The move is one of many Paramount is making to make the streaming service enticing to fans. The service has greenlit a Frasier revival and will be the streaming home for Mission: Impossible 7 and A Quiet Place Part II 45 days after their theatrical release.
