It looks as if The Flash is nearing a renewal at The CW, with star Grant Gustin close to a deal to return. Deadline reports that Gustin, who has played Barry Allen for the whole of the Arrowverse’s run, is finalizing a new contract to return as the character which will clear the way for the network to announce a ninth season.

Gustin was reportedly offered a multi-year deal to return, though the deal he is finalizing is just for one season. A ninth season would make The Flash the longest-running Arroverse show on the network, putting it past Arrow’s eight seasons. The new contract will provide Gustin with a sizable pay increase, with his salary believed to be over $200,000 per episode.

The Flash is complemented by fellow CW DC series Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, and Superman & Lois. A new series focusing on David Ramsay’s John Diggle is also in development, where he serves as a mentor to five young metahumans who are undercover as freshmen at a prestigious university.
