411’s Ring Ka King Report 3.31.12 & 4.01.12: Episodes #19 & 20

EPISODE #19- 3.30.12size=4>

Jeff Jarrett’s lawyer cuts a brief Hindi promo in the ring to kick off the episode. He seems to be reminding everyone that Double J is now in control of Ring Ka King, and thus everyone should watch out!

MATCH 1- MUMBAI STREET FIGHT- ROSCOE JACKSON VS ISAIAH CASH

This one doesn’t start in the ring, but on the back of a Tata Prima lorry in the parking lot, as the two burly brawlers battle with Singapore canes. Roscoe gets the better of it and punishes the Biker with the weapon, but Cash comes back with some hard fists. The slugfest continues as the two leave the lorry. Jackson hurls Isaiah head first into the front of the lorry, getting a two count. They brawl into the driver’s seat of the vehicle, where Cash gets his head bounced off the steering wheel. Finally, the fight goes into the arena, but instead of heading to the ring they battle it out in an excited crowd! Cash pummels Jackson with a steel chair whilst there. The former Trevor Murdoch takes a spill off a balcony onto the floor, which looked nasty, even considering the relatively small drop. Now they’ve made it to ringside, a bloody Roscoe Jackson throwing Cash into the ring post. And now Cash is bleeding as well! Roscoe places a frying pan on Isaiah’s head and hits it with spoons, which seems like it would be a mild annoyance rather than anything else. Now they start hitting each other with pots of food, wreaking havoc on a mobile concessions stand that was curiously placed in the pit beneath the stage. Never matter, as Jackson lays Cash on the stand and leaps off the stage with a flying elbow drop! They nail each other with some more literal pot shots. Jackson places a pot on Cash’e head and drops an elbow on it. For the first time in the match, the match takes to the ring, where two tables have been set up. They fight up to the top rope, where Cash throws some powder in the face of Jackson. He then hurls him off the top rope through one of the tables, and makes the cover for the three count. * ½ This was more of a silly Street Fight in the vein of Attitude Era hardcore matches in the WWF, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but didn’t fit in with the tone of this rivalry, nor the wrestlers. It was entertaining enough, but a missed opportunity to put on a truly excellent war.

In the locker room, Chavo Guerrero & Bulldog Hart console Barood on his recent losing streak. Double J’s lawyer, accompanied by Deadly Danda, interrupts the talk, sending Barood away and telling Guerrero and Hart they’ve been given the night off. The former tag team champions seem perturbed by this, but after their jobs are threatened, they agree to leave the building.

It’s time for Mahabali Veera to take the Adonis Lock challenge! Double A and Shera don’t seem best pleased by this, preferring to face another hapless member of the crowd, but Veera hits the ring to force it into happening right now! The Adonis reluctantly applies the hold, and after a small struggle, Veera powers right out the hold! He punches Shera and grabs the briefcase, but before he can take the money the Adonis and his manager stomp him into the mat, before cinching on the Adonis Lock again. A now weakened Veera can’t break the hold a second time, and the American Adonis stands tall, despite his hold finally being broken.

In the back, the lawyer and Deadly Danda insist Matt Morgan also leaves the building. He complies, but demands a match with Danda sometime in the future.

MATCH 2- SHEIK MUSTAFA BASHIR & RAISHA SAEED VS ROMEO RAPTA & ANGELINA LOVE

It should be noted, being as he’ll probably interject himself in the match, that the rule-breakers are accompanied by Sheik Abdul Bashir.

Rapta takes Bashir off his feet with a headscissors for an early two count. The Sheiks garner the advantage though after Abdul hits the heartthrob with a cheap shot, the distraction allowing Mustafa to crash into Romeo with a clothesline. Double R powers out of a rear chin-lock with a back suplex. In comes Angelina Love and Raisha Saeed, and Zorowar makes his way out to ringside to cheer on the object of his desires. Love has no troubles with the veiled Vixen, decking her with a bicycle kick. Sheik Abdul Bashir tries to interfere but gets taken off his feet by Zorowar in a ridiculous spot. All these distractions allow Saeed time to recover and land the Air Raid Crash for the three-count. Post-match, Zorowar and Romeo Rapta argue as Dr. Nick Dinsmore attends to Angelina Love behind their backs. The lawyer hits the entrance ramp to demand they all clear the ring, because RDX are coming! Barood is brought down with them for a reason that I’m sure is soon to be revealed, and Romeo Rapta and Zorowar remain at ringside.

Jeff reminds us all we are looking at the boss of Ring Ka King, and he’s going to start making some changes. He’s already booked three matches for tomorrow night; Sir Brutus Magnus vs. a randomly picked opponent, Abyss & Scott Steiner vs. a team that Chavo Guerrero & Bulldog Hart wouldn’t even face (Pathani Patthe, I’m guessing) and Double J himself with challenge this gentleman about to be brought down to the ring… a picture of Harbhajan Singh!!!! I wonder if this will surpass the classic Mick Foley vs. a picture of Rocky Balboa war from 2009. I am, of course, being pedantic. Jarrett says he’ll even put a blindfold on if Singh is too scared to face him tomorrow. For now, he wants Barood, Romeo Rapta and Zorowar all to be brought into the ring. Jeff warns them he could fire all of them if he wanted to, but he’s just not that kind of person. He’s going to give each three of them a job that they deserve… but not as wrestlers. Barood hasn’t won a single match in Ring Ka King, so he’ll have to clean out the closets in the back. Romeo Rapta is a sorry excuse for a human being, so he has to clean out the toilets. But Zorowar, he’s a likeable little guy. Useless, like everyone in the building according to Jeff, but likeable. So he’s got one special job for him, and if he won’t do it, he’ll be fired. He must kiss the foot of Jeff Jarrett! To be fair, as long as the pay was reasonable it’s a damn sight easier than being a wrestler. Abyss and Steiner force him towards his foot, but Zorowar rebels and bites the toes of the boss. That was not a good move, as RDX beat him into a pulp. But then, of all people, a Sumo wrestler strides out onto the stage, and we get black and white freeze-frames of RDX’s astonished faces. That concluded a very good episode of Ring Ka King.

EPISODE #20- 4.1.12size=4>

Sonjay Dutt and Sir Brutus Magnus make their way down to the ring, Dutt’s golden wings hanging high above the ring. Sonjay cuts a promo in Hindi, and while I don’t understand most of it, I know he brands Harbhajan Singh a coward. We see said insult scrawled on the photo of Singh. We then find out Brutus Magnus’ randomly picked opponent, as the champion chooses a name from a bag. Dutt seems panicked by the name that comes out of the bag. And then out comes Zorowar, and apparently they’re going to have a ladder match to determine Ring Ka King’s greatest high-flyer. Yeah, sorry, this promo has totally lost me. Anyway…

MATCH 1- LADDER MATCH- ZOROWAR VS SONJAY DUTT

Dutt holds off Zorowar’s attack with one arm and shoves him across the ring. In the back, Zema Ion, Sonjay Dutt and Pagal Parinda are angered by the match, claiming Dutt is making a mockery out of their style and hasn’t earned the wings. Back down at ringside, Dutt tries to grab a ladder but gets bitten on the bottom. Zorowar flees under the ring, and then pops out behind Sonjay to take him off his feet. It doesn’t look any less ridiculous when it’s happening to Sonjay. Zorowar tries to set the ladder up in the ring but an angry Dutt kicks him in the face. He tries to climb the ladder and reclaim the wings, but Zorowar stops him with a low blow and lands a flying crossbody off the top rope, which inexplicably takes Dutt off his feet. Zorowar tries to scale the ladder, but looks set to get a powerbomb for his troubles. However, the Playa from the Himalayas finds himself being sent head over heels by a huracanrana. The two lightweights duel at the top of the ladder. Zorowar punches Dutt off the ladder, but before he can unfasten the wings Sonjay scales back up and hurls the little man down to the canvas. This gives Dutt all the time in the world to take the wings and keep his spot as Ring Ka King’s greatest highflyer. ¼ * Match was dreadful, and although Zorowar actually executes his moves quite well, they just don’t look realistic being done on a guy even the size of Sonjay Dutt.

Dutt and Magnus celebrate victory, but they’re interrupted by the arrival of the sumo from last week, who sits on a seat on the stage way and stares down the RDX members. I guess he’s the guy who Magnus will be facing later on for the Ring Ka King Championship?

MATCH 2- RING KA KING TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS- ABYSS & SCOTT STEINER VS THE MUMBAI CATS

Yeah, this is going to be an absolute slaughter.

The Mumbai Cats initially use their speed to cause problems, but one of them walks into a big boot from Abyss, turning the tide. The Monster forces the other Mumbai Cat (they look identical, so I don’t know which is which) to tag his partner in, and Scott Steiner destroys him with suplexes, before decking him with a clothesline. They bring both the Cats into the ring; Abyss drops one with a chokeslam, and Steiner lands the Frankensteiner on the other for the three count. But the destruction isn’t over yet, as Abyss & Steiner bully the announcers into making it a two out of three falls match. And, predictably, Abyss drops one of the Cats with a Black Hole Slam, making it a clean sweep for the champs.

Chavo Guerrero, Bulldog Hart and Matt Morgan cut a promo in the back. The former tag champs claim Jeff Jarrett can’t be trusted, and Morgan expresses his support for Harbhajan Singh in the upcoming match.
Meanwhile, in his locker room, Double J prepares for the match while blindfolded, and accidentally breaks his lawyers nose with a wayward punch.

Another interview, this one with Mahabali Veera! I have no clue what he says, but he mentions the American Adonis.

A blindfolded Jarrett hits the ring, guided by his long-suffering lawyer, and says he’s been training his entire life to wrestle him, showing quite astonishing foresight. But Singh’s a gutless coward who won’t wrestle Jeff. A Ring Ka King lawyer makes his way down to ringside to say that there will be no fight between the two. Fuming, Jeff once again brands Harbhajan Singh a coward, then says he’ll wrestle anyone in the building in a Blindfold match. And out comes Jazzy Lahoria to accept that challenge! I should note the sumo is still keeping an eye on proceedings from his seat on the stage.

MATCH 3- BLINDFOLD MATCH- JEFF JARRETT VS JAZZY LAHORIA

Jarrett throws some wild punches but comes closer to hitting the referee than he does Lahoria. The former commissioner bounces Double J’s head off the turnbuckles and body slams him for two. Jarrett’s lawyer distracts the referee, allowing his client to land a Low Blow. He fumbles his way into executing the Stroke, and that’s enough for the three. Post-match, Jeff removes his blindfold and decks Jazzy with his guitar. Lahoria never gets a break.

In RDX’s private locker room, Sir Brutus Magnus and Sonjay Dutt watch on with glee. They decide to leave and go celebrate with Double J. However, once they’ve gone, Chavo Guerrero pops out from behind the sofa, while Matt Morgan and Mahabali Veera enter from a cupboard. They rummage through the bag of names Sir Brutus Magnus picked his challenger from, and seem displeased.

MATCH 4- RING KA KING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP- SIR BRUTUS MAGNUS VS ?????

Both Sonjay Dutt and Deadly Danda have to talk Magnus into going ahead with the opening challenge. And you can see why, because his opponent is… Barood. RDX seem pleased with their ruse, but the challenger doesn’t seem to appreciate being mocked.

Barood slugs away at Magnus but quickly runs into a back elbow. Michinoku Driver secures the quick three count. The champ doesn’t have long to celebrate his victory though, as Matt Morgan, Mahabali Veera and Chavo Guerrero reveal that every piece of paper in the bag says Barood. The threesome then come down to ringside and clear the ring of RDX, with an assortment of RKK fan favorites acting as makeshift lumberjacks. RDX have been humiliated!

So, in short, Episode 19 was one of the strongest of the last few weeks, a fast-paced, focused show with plenty of storyline progression and an intriguing ending. Episode 20 was weaker, with no worthwhile matches to speak of, but it was nice to see the good guys fight back against RDX at least. Both worth watching.
