Update On Los Angeles Times Wanting To Write About AEW Earlier This Month

As previously reported, The Los Angeles Times wanted to write a story about AEW Dynamite back when the show was in Los Angeles, but due to a miscommuncation AEW reportedly never got back to them. However, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it seems the entire ordeal was a misunderstanding.
Houston Mitchell, the assistant sports editor for the Times, has been with the paper for 31 years. Mitchell emailed Mandy O’Donnell, who handles PR for AEW, about writing a piece on the Young Bucks returning to Southern California. He contacted them six weeks before that week’s Dynamite and then again two weeks after that. He never heard back and no story was written. O’Donnell maintains that they “triple checked” for his emails but never found them.
However, O’Donnell said that they never got any messages from him and would have worked with him on the story. AEW responded to a different writer for the Times, who didn’t work there full-time, and the paper turned down that writer’s idea. Because of Mitchell’s standing with the paper, his story would have run. After the story last week, Mitchell and O’Donnell immediately contacted each other and worked things out. It is likely that the story will run the next time AEW is in the area.
