Crew Of G4 and WWE Series Arena Reportedly Quit Before G4 Shutdown

As previously reported, Comcast is once again shutting down G4 after less than a year of the network’s revival. According to the Washington Post, the entire crew of the series Arena, which was a co-presentation with WWE, quit prior to the network being shut down.

An email sent yesterday from G4 boss Joe Marsh, prior to the news of its shut down, told staff that all streams were postponed and the Los Angeles studio would be closed until tomorrow. However that didn’t mention the shut down. Former employees noted that they were locked out of internal communications through Slack and Google Drive without “immediate explanation.” This happened after the crew of Arena quit last week.

The Post notes that expenses for guest talent could have played a role in the end of G4. Employees noted that some bigger creators wanted day rates of $25,000-$30,000 when they were asked to appear.
