Andy Kaufman Documentary In the Works From The Rock’s Production Company

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s production company is producing a documentary on the late Andy Kaufman. Deadline reports that Seven Bucks Productions is partnering with Campfire Studios, Worldwide Pants Incorporated and Fifth Season for first authorized feature doc on the comedy icon, with Clay Tweel (Gleason) set to direct.

Fifth Season is fully financing the documentary, which is being produced in partnership with The Andy Kaufman Estate. The film will feature access to Kaufman’s family along with never-before-seen archives and private recordings that are being provided by the Estate along with Kaufman-related archival material from the estate of Kaufman’s manager George Shapiro. The doc will, per the site, “track the creative process of a performance artist who operated at an undefinable frequency.”

Johnson is producing alongside his Seven Bucks partners Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia and Brian Gewirtz; Campfire’s Ross M. Dinerstein, and Shannon Riggs. David Letterman will executive produce for Worldwide Pants with Tom Keaney, Tyler Kaufman, Tweel, Tommy Avallone, Ross Girard and Rebecca Evans.
