While a number of films were delayed due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, James Gunn says Superman: Legacy isn’t one of them. The film, which will officially kick off the new DC Universe on the big screen, was originally set for a July 11th, 2025 release date. Gunn took to Twitter now that the strikes are over and revealed that thanks to the film’s crew, the movie will be able to meet its scheduled release date.

Gunn, who wrote the film and will direct, posted:

“Thanks to the efforts of our talented crew, who never lost faith during the longest strikes in Hollywood history, and who never let their foot off the pedal, continuing to barrel forward, creating the most amazing character and set designs I’ve seen in my entire career, #SupermanLegacy will be making the originally planned release date of July 11, 2025.”

The news comes after several studios have had to push their release dates over the past several months including Dune: Part Two, Venom 3 and a ton of MCU films such as Deadpool 3 and Captain America: New World Order.

David Corenswet will play Clark Kent/Superman in the film opposite Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Also starring are Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner), and Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho).
