MJF Claims That He Won the Bidding War of 2024
– During a recent interview with WrestleTalk, AEW American Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) discussed the infamous Bidding War of 2024, the period when he was supposed to become a free agent and would have AEW and WWE bidding for his services earlier this year. According to MJF, he came out of the bidding war as the winner. Below are some highlights (via Fightful):
MJF on who won the Bidding War of 2024: “I won. I’m f***ing rich. It’s fucking crazy. You don’t understand. I have so much money. It’s hilarious. The whole locker room f***ing hates me because they all know how much I’m making and they are not…it’s peanuts in comparison.”
On how he got the bag: “I’m only 28. You have guys walking around in their 40s who have given their body to this industry. They’re dying, practically, and they don’t make a fraction of what I make. It’s f***ing great. I got the bag. It’s sick. Tony is a f***ing mark. My God. Showed me the number. Phew. Signed fast. Fast. Yes, I won.”
On if he had any talks with WWE: “I can’t answer that for legal reasons because if I did have conversations with WWE, that would be considered what?”
MJF will defend his AEW American Championship on Sunday, August 25 against Will Ospreay at AEW All In: London. The event will be held at London’s Wembley Stadium and will be broadcast live on pay-per-view.
