MJF Retains World Title Against Kevin Knight On AEW Dynamite

MJF had a bigger fight than he expected, but he was able to retain the AEW World Championship against Kevin Knight on AEW Dynamite. Wednesday night’s show saw the Salt of the Earth defend his championship against the JetSpeed member, a match that went 17 minutes long. Knight gave MJF a hell of a fight and MJF had to resort to heel tactics at various times during the match, but he was able to get the win.

The closing stretch of the match saw Knight pin MJF after a UFO Splash, but MJF kicked the referee into the middle rope and the delay allowed him to kick out. Knight went for another UFO Splash but MJF got his knees up and then hit the Heat Seeker to pick up the victory and retain his title. You can see highlights from the match below.

With the win, MJF has extended his World Championship reign to 68 days. He won the title at AEW Worlds End in a four-way match against then-champion Samoa Joe, plus Swerve Strickland and Hangman Page. He will defend his title against Page at AEW Revolution on March 15th from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. The show airs live on PPV.
