CM Punk recently reflected on how he and Triple H fixed their relationship, noting that it came after he saw an old clip of Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior mending fences. Punk and Triple H had a famously contentious relationship, both during Punk’s first run in WWE and for years after. The two discussed their complicated heat with each other on WWE Unreal, and Punk talked in a bit of detail about how he reached out to The Game after his heart incident on All That Smoke.

Punk recalled how he reached out to Triple H after seeing a clip of Hogan and Warrior apologizing to each other at Warrior’s WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, just a couple of days before Warrior died. He noted that it made him realize that the bad blood wasn’t worth it. You can see highlights below:

On The Importance of Family to Triple H & Nick Khan:

“Triple H and Nick Khan. Got to got to name drop Nick Khan. Family is very important to both these gentlemen. So it carries over, and they lead by example. They’re not going to short change any of the talent if they have an event or something at home that they want to go to. Like, everything’s a conversation. My favorite thing is when Triple H isn’t at Raw. And it’s not because, ‘Oh, the boss is away’ or anything like that. It’s because I know like, he’s at a daddy-daughter dance. I know he’s at his daughter’s football game. And ther’e just something about — it makes me feel, it’s wholesome.

On Mending Fences With Triple H:

“We’ve had the conversations. It’s how we got to a point where I was asked, ‘Hey, do you want — what’s it look like? Can we get you to come back?’ “It’s because after a while, I reached out to Triple H, and I knew he had this heart condition thing. And I had seen a clip of Hogan and the Warrior. And everything we do is filmed. So what’s real, what’s not? And it’s Hogan, so you know. You don’t know what’s the truth. But they’re just having this conversation and kind of apologizing and forgiving each other. And a couple of days later, the Ultimate Warrior dies. And it’s just like — man, it made me realize, this s**t ain’t worth it, and I just don’t care.’

“And I get a call like from Nick, like, ‘Hey, we want you to come back.’ Well, what does that look like? Is the place different? To bring it back to your question, it’s so wildly different. If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t be here.”
