Impact Zone! It’s Thursday Night, which means that we are getting a new episode of Impact coming to us! Tonight’s show comes to us from the taped sessions that took place in Sacramento, California, and we’ll get ourselves a World Title match and much more on tap!

For more, let’s get into the Headlines!

  • The Maclin Grin! TNA World Heavyweight Champion Mike Santana will defend his title against the returning Steve Maclin, cleared to return from suffering an injury that caused a stop in their previous encounter
  • Around the World! Mustafa Ali will continue his International Title World Tour, as he will defend the title of the same name against Chaz “Starboy” Hall, making a visit from the EVOVLE/NXT scene
  • Mind Games Galore! The battle between The Righteous and the Hardy’s rages on, as tonight, BROKEN Matt Hardy will face Vincent in a singles match, and to make things even, Jeff Hardy and Dutch will be handcuffed to the ring post
  • Black H(e)art! Elayna Black looks to continue her push towards the TNA Knockouts Title, but before she can do that, she faces the recently re-signed Indi Hartwell, who has designs on the title herself
  • The Brookside of Stone! Speaking of the Knockouts Title scene, Xia Brookside, fresh off a heel turn on her former Warrior Angel’s teammate and current Knockouts Champion Lei Ying Lee, will face Jada Stone
  • Shock the System! The System, complete with brand new X-Division Champion Cedric Alexander, will open tonight’s show. All of this and, of course, so much more in store for us tonight
  • So, how is everyone on this Thursday Night? Not a lot has changed in the past 24 hours since I shared my thoughts. I still patiently wait for the Eagles to make that very obvious trade of AJ Brown to the Patriots. Or maybe it will be the Jaguars. Or the Chiefs now, apparently, who knows.

But enough about me and enough about you, let’s get ready to brace for Impact!

    TNA

Tonight, we are LIVE (To Tape) from Sac-Town, California! Tom Hannifan and Matt Rehwoldt are on the call tonight.

I’M READY FOR YOU! (The Title Sequence!)

Tom welcomes us to the show and hypes up the main event World Title match tonight!

You can’t beat the System! As promised, the gang are here, complete with all of their titles. Kind of funny that Edwards is the only man who doesn’t have a title in the group.

DO YOU WANT TO KNOW SOMETHING, scrams Alisha, because she knows we hate our hearing. Just to prove that point, she screams it again, for the people in the back. Eddie takes the mic and he says what you are looking at is the most dominant force in TNA History! Last week, Ceddy, that wasn’t just a victory, that was a statement. A statement that wrestling as a whole belongs to the System! And now, we are one step closer to holding all the gold in TNA, so Mikey Santana, if I were you (YOU SUCK chants), I would be watching my back, because I still have my eyes on that World Title of yours.

Myers now. Do you think the tag team champions suck? (YES!) Do you think the new X-Division Champions sucks? (YES!) And Eddie is the uncrowned TNA World Champion. In fact, he is a future TNA Hall of Famer. he’s been carrying this company on his back for a decade. Because the System is full of winners.

Bronson now. Every single person who steps up to the System gets taken out. It doesn’t matter how good you think you are, and it doesn’t matter if any of these people here believe in you. Because the system doesn’t give a damn who believes in you, because the result is always the same. You step to us, and the System will eat you alive.

Cedric now. Leon Slater! You were one day away! One day away! One day away! I say it again, he was one day away from accomplishing his dream. One day away from becoming the record maker, right? NO! Last week, he became the record taker! Boo all you want, it is a fact of life, he is the standard of the X-Division! He is the signature champion of TNA. And he has a problem. Instead of living in the moment, they ruined it, so Fabian Aichner, if you have something to say, say it to my face!

Ask and you shall receive, as Aichner is here! Last week, he didn’t come out here for no reason, he came out here to make a name for himself. Recognition, respect, and honor, that is why he is here. He is no gimmick; he is a future X-Division Champion! And that X-Division title is looking really nice! So, Cedric, enjoy your moment while it lasts my man, because I am here to take my spot!

The System try to get the jump on Fabian, but he picks them off in the aisle. He battles with Alexander in the ring, he avoids a Lumbar Check and tries to choke out Cedric, but the rest of the System pull him to safety.

Daria Rae is talking to someone off-screen in the back. Loyalty is a funny thing in this company. You put your hands on Tom Hannifan, and they want to erase you from TNA history. But Daria doesn’t see it that way, and it’s Steve Maclin who she is talking to. Tonight, they are going to right a wrong, and you have the chance to rip the heart out of Mike Santana, take the title, and bring respect to the man who carries it. Daria walks away, as Maclin stares into the abyss.

We see Elayna Black and Indi Hartwell walking. That match is up next!

    COMMERICALS!

We return from break and Arianna Grace and Stacks on commentary. They’re in the same chair, and Tom asks why they couldn’t find another chair. He wants to move further away lol.

    Elayna Black vs. Indi Hartwell

The bell rings and we get an early lock-up. Black takes Hartwell to the corner and slaps her, so Indi slaps back and knocks her across the ring. She follows up with a clothesline, but Black sends Hartwell to the corner. Indi blocks her knee strike and smacks her one. Black ends up on the apron, where Hartwell hits her with a running boot. The pin, two count.

Hartwell corners Black with the ten punches, but Elayna ducks and sends Indi crashing to the floor. Our commentators argue over suspend and suspenseful, riveting shit I tell you. Black smacks Indi’s face off the apron and sends her back into the ring. Black with a running knee to the head, the cover for a two. Black takes time to pose before hitting a springboard double stomp for another two.

Indi fights back and smashes Black in the corner with a lariat. The cover, another two. Black reverses the pressure with a chin lock, and she yells at the fans. We hear kissing, and I’m not sure it’s Tom and Matt lol. Indi fires back with rights and a lariat. Another lariat. Black kind of jumps into Indi and Hartwell hits her with the Spine on the Pine. Hartwell to the top, but Stacks and Grace get on the apron. Arianna sends Hartwell from the top right in front of the referee and that’s a DQ. Okay?
    WINNER: Indi Hartwell by DQ
    TIME: 4:00
THOUGHTS: I’m not sure what the point of this was. The match was mid and then we get early interference.
    RATING: *

Post-match, Grace throws Hartwell out of the ring and tells her that their issues are over. Grace complains that her father turned her back on her and supported Lei Ying Lee over his own daughter. She wants her title back right now!

Santino is here! He says Arianna didn’t deserve a title rematch because Lee beat her fair and square. He says that Grace is a spoiled brat and he should ground her. And he calls Stacks a stupid face and he wants to beat him up. He goes to pull out the cobra, but here comes Daria Rae. She says Santino is making a fool of himself and he knows that he can’t fight the talent. Santino goes to speak, but Daria says the thing, you know, the thing! She makes fun of Santino being a Judo expert because it is the weakest of the combat sports, she should know because she is a fighter! If you want to face Stacks, then you know that you need to go through the proper channels. Now hit my music!

Wow, that was a sack of shit, NGL.

Tom runs down the card for tonight. Matt Hardy and Vincent will face off next!

    COMMERCIALS!

The Elegance Brand are admiring themselves and each other in front of the mirror in the back. Ash apparently had to take a couple of weeks off so she could get some work done, but when she comes back, she will look so much better. The lights go out, and when they come back on, there is a message on the mirror in lipstick that says SEE YOU SOON, ROSEMARY AND ALLIE. For comedic effect, the Elegance Brand struggle to read and understand this.

The Righteous make their entrance. The Hardy’s music plays, but Vincent says bring it down for a minute. That’s not the music that he was expecting to hear, so he brought out the Broken One before, and he will come out there and bring it back again, you get what he’s saying? Sure, why not.

But it works, because we get the BROKEN piano music, and BROKEN Matt and BROTHER Nero are here! Vincent is very happy now.

    BROKEN Matt Hardy vs. Vincent

Both Dutch and BROTHER NERO will he handcuffed to the ring post
People are handcuffed to the ring post, and the bell rings. Early lock-up, Hardy drives Vincent to the corner, and he enjoys it. Hardy clobbers Vincent and then bites him. Vincent heads to the apron and Hardy drops him to the canvas. Vincent shows some level of fear now as he tries to escape. It was a trap, though, as Vincent attacks Hardy when he gets in the ring.

Vincent takes over with strikes to Hardy in the corner and he snaps his fingers. Vincent sneaks out of the ring and he punches Brother Nero. Back in the ring, and Vincent hits a back elbow to Matt for a two count.

Headlock from Vincent, who then flattens out Hardy and lays in straight rights. Hardy manages to roll-up Vincent for a two. Vincent sends Hardy from the ring, Vincent takes the ref, and Dutch attacks Hardy, as Brother Nero can only watch on because he’s too far away. Vincent toys with Brother Nero, and he chokes out Matt in front of his brother over the ring steps. Vincent returns Matt to the ring, takes a moment to walk around, and heads back in himself.

Vincent chokes out Hardy in the corner with the boot. The ref admonishes Vincent, so he backs off. Snapmare into another headlock from Vincent. Hardy to his feet, but Vincent takes him right back down to the mat into a chin lock this time. Hardy again is back to his feet, and he starts to throw hands with Vincent. Corresponding BOO-YAY chants air accordingly. Both men take each other out with a lariat, and we reset.

Hardy sits up like the Undertaker, and Vincent gets a concerned look on his face. Matt proceeds to DELETE Vincent out of existence! One corner is not enough, so Matt takes Vincent to another corner! Hardy pulls Vincent out of the corner with a Tiger Driver for a two. Hardy with an Irish Whip, Hardy pulls up, and Vincent comes down lame. incent sits down and removes his boot. Hardy keeps trying to get at Vincent, but the ref holds him back.

It was a trap, as Vincent tries to hit Hardy with his boot. Hardy ducks it and bites the non-boot foot of Vincent! Side Effect gets Matt a two. Hardy says it is time to DELETE, but Vincent blocks the Twist of Fate. Vincent takes Matt to the corner, he rolls up Hardy with Dutch holding on to him, but Hardy still kicks out at two. Hardy to his feet, Vincent with a running forearm for another two. Vincent slowly makes his way to the top, here comes Hardy to bite his finger and toss him from the top. Twist of Fate attempt, but Vincent throws Hardy into the ref, and that’s a ref bump.

Vincent with a front face slam to Hardy, and Dutch implores him to get the key off of the ref to release him. Vincent takes the key and he looks at it WAY too long. So long, in fact, that the lights go out, and when they come back on, WILLOW is here! He smacks Vincent with his umbrella, leaves the ring, and the lights go back out. When they come back on, Hardy hits Vincent with the Twist of Fate and he wins it, despite Dutch’s best efforts to try and grab the key.
    WINNER: BROKEN Matt Hardy
    TIME: 12:00
THOUGHTS: Not a bad match, just not very exciting. When in doubt, break glass and bring out the BROKEN Hardy’s and Willow.
    RATING: ***

Elijah is playing the guitar in the back, but here comes AJ Francis. Hey, Francis is a big fan of your music! He says everyone is talking about Maclin and Santana in the main event, and he hopes they kill each other. Francis wants to collab with Elijah. He says he doesn’t do the tag team thing, and Francis says he doesn’t mean that, he means to collab musically. The hip-hop and country thing is hot right now, but Elijah says he doesn’t need the money. He is a drifter, and the drifter walks alone. Elijah walks off, AJ removes his glasses, and says you will regret that.

The Injury report is brought to us by the new film Over your Dead Body!

  • Both Francis and Navarro are fine after last week, but they are both out of action tonight
  • Moose is still out after being attacked two weeks ago

They will find out tonight who will be the captain tonight, will it be Steve Maclin or Mike Santana? Daria Rae mockingly claps for her. You want to make matches, Daria has a match for Santino, because next week, he will get Stacks. Santino is happy as he takes his leave. The System are here now. Eddie says since she is in a match making mode, how about Eddie gets Fabian Aichner next week. Daria says she likes that.

It’s the Star Boy! He even gets an inset promo. He says you may have seen him on EVOVLE or on NXT, but tonight, he will leave us star struck when he takes the International Title from Ali!

THOUGHTS: What a palette cleanser after the first 45 minutes of the show. Star making (Heh) performance from Hall here, but Ali is damn good for a reason. Wish the match would have gotten more time, but it was great for what we got.
    RATING: ***3/4

We get a preview for The Over Your Dead Body film. We cut to the back, with a rando getting a selfie with Keith Jardine. Santino arrives, and he says he is a grappler as well. Jardine says he heard, and here comes Mara Sade. She says they are both from Duke City, and she asks if Jardine will have her back next week when she has a match with The Elegance Brand. He says that shouldn’t be a problem, they bump fists, and that’s cut.

Speaking of Knockouts, Xia Brookside and Jada Stone will collide next!

    COMMERCIALS!

Steve Maclin is starring into the abyss, as Eric Young is standing there. Their paths have crossed again, isn’t it ironic, isn’t it interesting. You foolishly turned down an offer from Young, and look what happened. You got fired, and after you got fired, you turned yourself into everything that I wanted you to be. You scratched, you clawed, and you got a title shot. The good guy out you in a hospital, and you disappeared again. Now you face Mike Santana tonight, and just so you know, the winner of this match faces me. He is giving Maclin the chance again because he is his only friend. What will it be? You beat Santana, you face Young, you lose to Santana, you disappear again, or maybe Young makes you disappear again. The choice is yours.

    The Spark is here!

More words are traded, and we get a struggle for arm control, which Stone wins. Brookside tries to get to her feet, but Stone shoves her away and she mocks Xia. Stone ducks a lariat and does the Matrix move! She hits a corner back bump to Brookside into a snapmare and a single leg dropkick!

Stone heads to the top, but Brookside latches on to her ankle, and she manages to rip her from the corner and to the mat. WINNER: Xia Brookside
    TIME: 7:05
THOUGHTS: A fun little sprint. Stone definitely had a lot of energy to her game, and Xia is settling in nicely as a heel.
    RATING: ***1/4

We see Mike Santana getting ready for the main event in the back. HOLY CRAP, STEVE MACLIN CAN TALK, YOU GUYS! He screams six weeks at Santana, and that he took food off his table and money from his pocket. He will put Santana in the hospital! Security does their job, much to my surprise.

Tale of the Tape for the main event tonight!

Both men make their entrances, and Mackenzie Mitchell does the in-ring introductions for this one. Nope, wait, hold on, we get another commercial break right before the main event.

TNA World Heavyweight Title Match: Mike Santana (C) vs. Steve Maclin

I like how the ref sternly looks into the camera like HE is World Champion or something.

Alright finally the bell rings, and both men fire off at one another straight away. Santana looking for the SUPERKICK, but Maclin avoids it. Santana again takes the time to take in the fan’s admiration, and Maclin pounces. He shoves Santana into the ring post, and he brings out a table from under the ring. This is much to the delight of the fans, who chant WE WANT TABLES. Santana battles back, but he jumps off the ring steps, and he comes up favoring his left leg! Santana still manages to fight off Maclin and sends him back into the ring.

Steve heads to the floor and he continues the attack on the leg. Maclin gets in the face of Carlos Silva at ring side. Silva gets up, but Maclin tells him to sit his ass back down lol.

Back in the ring, and Maclin pins Santana for a two. The fans continue to chant for tables as Maclin continues the abuse of Santana’s leg. Santana kicks Maclin away, but the challenger is right back after him. Santana with strikes, but his knee buckles off the ropes, and Maclin hits a basement dropkick. Maclin stalks Santana to the corner, where he lands chops and he hits a running dropkick to the bad knee. Maclin argues with the ref and then sinches in the Figure-Four. WOOOOOO! SANTANA chants as Mike keeps fighting off pin attempts. Santana reverses the pressure, and that forces Maclin to grab the ropes.

Maclin turns around into a back elbow from Santana. Mike snatches up Maclin and he initiates the Three Amigos. Unfortunately, he can’t get the third one because Maclin escapes out the back door. Maclin hits the ropes, but Santana catches him with a Death Valley Driver! Both men get to their feet, strikes are traded. Santana blocks a Maclin elbow and kicks him in the face. Spin the Block, Maclin avoids it, and he avoids the Rolling Buck Fifty with a punch to the back of the head. Cross Hairs attempt, no, Santana gets the Rolling Buck Fifty! The pin, but Maclin kicks out at two.

Maclin ends up headbutting Santana, but Mike comes back with a big boot, sending Maclin crashing into the table! Santana returns Maclin to the ring, and he hits the Frog Splash! The cover, but Maclin kicks out at 2.5!

Maclin screams like he dumped in his nappy of fear. KIA attempt, but Santana escapes. We get a lot of rope running, Santana with a big flying clothesline. Spin the Block connects, and Santana retains the title!
    WINNER: Mike Santana (And still)
    TIME: 17:40
THOUGHTS: Really good main event. You can do way worse than two guys going out there, the challenger with a grudge, and the champion fighting to keep people who want him to fail at bay. Santana’s reign continues, as Eric Young is on deck.
    RATING: ****

Post-match, Santana reminds us that this is his house as he celebrates with the title. And with that, we are done!
