Tony Khan Says Mistico Is Not Cleared To Compete

Mistico is temporarily out of action, as revealed by Tony Khan on social media on Wednesday evening after AEW Dynamite. As noted, the AEW President announced in a Twitter livestream after tonight’s show that a ladder match for the AEW International Championship #1 contendership will take place at AEW Redemption.

Khan noted in the livestream that Mistico had been slotted to compete at Redemption and that he’d wanted him for TV this week ahead of the show. However, due to injuries he suffered at CMLL’s show on Friday in Arena Mexico, he is not cleared to compete. The ladder match was announced instead of the originally-planned but never announced match, which would have seen Mistico fighting for the #1 contendership.

Khan noted (per F4W Online that he is hoping Mistico will be cleared in time to compete at AEW Grand Slam Mexico on August 5th.

Details on Mistico’s injuries are not yet known. He teamed with his El Sky Team partners Mascara Dorada and Neon to pick up a win over Los Infernales in a Best Two of Three Falls match at the show.
