Tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite opened with Excalibur delivering an emotional tribute to the late PAC. Tonight’s show is a special tribute episode to the AEW star, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 40. The episode opened with a graphic to PAC and then cut to the AEW commentator, who opened the broadcast.
Excalibur spoke about PAC not just as an athlete but as the person behind the persona. He said:
“Hello, and thank you for joining us tonight for this very special tribute to PAC, Benjamin Slattery, who tragically lost his life over this weekend. Benjamin was a bastard in name only. He was a devoted son, a loving husband, and a dear friend. He was an incredible athlete and a relentless perfectionist, your favorite wrestler’s favorite wrestler.
“But he was also the most humble, warm and supportive person you could imagine. From a distance he appeared quiet and reserved, but if you got him talking about sausage dogs, his family, his beloved Magpies, dancehall music, or the hedgehogs that visited his garden, he would light up and his passion would shine.
Whether you knew him as PAC, Neville, the King of the Cruiserweights, the Man That Gravity Forgot, or simply Ben, you know he was one of a kind, and there will never be another like him. One day we’ll meet again, gannin’ alang the Scotswood Road to see the Blaydon Races. We love you, Bubba, we miss you.”
You can see the clip of the tribute below, along with Tony Schiavone speaking in the ring about PAC. Schiavone then called for everyone to join them for a 10 bell salute to PAC as the AEW roster stood on the stage. AEW then played a video of Jon Moxley talking after Saturday’s AEW All Out, which was PAC’s last on-camera appearance.
Forever our Bastard. Your favorite wrestler's favorite wrestler. There will never be another like him.
