Will Ospreay is building his own brand of the United Empire in AEW, and a new report has details on the company’s use of the name. The AEW World Champion announced on the September 2nd episode of AEW Dynamite that he was forming an AEW brand of the stable, which he was a co-founding member of alongside Great-O-Khan in NJPW. He has since added Mike Bailey to the group, as well as the Brawling Birds.
There was some question among fans how AEW can use it when it’s an NJPW group. AEW changed the Bullet Club Gold to the Bang Bang Gang for what is believed to have bene trademark reasons, as NJPW owns that name. However, sources pointed out to Fightful Select that Ospreay, not NJPW, actually owns the name. He trademarked the name in April with help from Michael Dockins and thus he has the freedom to use it as he wishes.
