Will Ospreay found himself confronted by two potential challengers for his World Title on AEW Dynamite, but found some backup in United Empire. Wednesday night’s show opened with the new AEW World Champion coming down to the ring to talk about his title win at AEW All In. Ospreay got emotional and talked about how the fans were there for him since he came to AEW and he’s grateful. He also put over Kenny Omega, who he beat for the title, and noted that they have two wins each against each other and if Omega wants another match, to name the time and place.

Ospreay then proceeded to talk about being champion and thanked the United Empire for having his back, noting that he planned to bring his own UE chapter to AEW. Just as Ospreay seemed ready to finish, The Demand came out and Ricochet said that he wasn’t trying to rain on Ospreay’s parade. He noted that they have unfinished business and praised Ospreay’s match with Omega, but said Ospreay wouldn’t be in the main event without the past battles they’d had and he wanted the next title shot.

That led to Gabe Kidd and Clark Connors coming out. Kidd said that Ospreay took his chance to be the first British-born IWGP World Champion and the first British-born AEW World Champion, so he was going to take from Ospreay. Ricochet and Kidd began to argue before Kidd pointed out it was five on one against Ospreay. The Demand and The Dogs headed for the ring but the United Empite came out with chairs. Ospreay said they could fight then or in the main event.
