Billy Gunn recently revealed the terms of his first talent contract with All Elite Wrestling.
Billy is one of AEW Originals, having signed with the company in January 2019. Though he initially signed as a coach and a producer, the veteran wrestler subsequently inked a talent contract with the promotion.
During a recent conversation with Inside The Ropes, Billy Gunn revealed the terms of his original AEW talent contract. Billy revealed he was originally slated to work 12 dates annually. However, he ultimately ended up working both weekly shows regularly during the early years of the company. Here’s what he said:
“My contract, I had 12 dates a year. I really wasn’t going to wrestle, but I told Tony, ‘If you need me to, I’ll do it here and there.’ I still had a talent contract and employee contract. I was mostly producing and coaching. The talent one was little because I wasn’t sure if I would even fill those dates. Lo and behold, they cracked me out, and I’m working both shows and working all the time, about to fall apart.”

Billy Gunn worked 23 matches in 2020 and another 34 in 2021. Though he hasn’t competed on AEW television since the January 21, 2026, episode of Collision, the 62-year-old has been working dark matches in Ring of Honor in recent months.
Elsewhere in the interview, the AEW veteran commented on the infamous Brawl Out incident from 2022 and Triple H’s comments on AEW at the 2019 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony.
