D&D players looking for the updated campaign setting for Critical Role’s first campaign setting only have to wait until next month. Critical Role and Darrington Press announced on Wednesday that the Tal’Dorei Campaign Setting Reborn sourcebook is set to release on January 18th, 2022.

The new book, which was first announced back in July, will update the the original (and now out of print) Tal’Dorei Campaign Guide which was published in October of 2017 through Green Ronin Publishing. The book is created by Matthew Mercer, Hannah Rose (Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount, The Wild Beyond the Witchlight), and James J. Haeck (Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount, Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus) and presents an updated look at Tal’Dorei, the continent of Exandria used for the “Vox Machina” campaign that launched Critical Role as an online streaming campaign.

The book is described as follows:

The updated sourcebook is a significant expansion and improvement of the popular and out-of-print original Tal’Dorei Campaign Setting, with newly crafted creatures, subclasses, magic items, and more designed for the 5th edition ruleset. Additional contributions are provided by Critical Role cast members Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Liam O’Brien, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel, and Travis Willingham; as well as John Stavropoulos (Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft, X-Card, Wizards of the Coast: Game Design Coach) and Aabria Iyengar (Exandria Unlimited, Misfits and Magic, Pirates of Salt Bay).

The announcement also featured the release of some preview images from the artwork, which you can see below. The sourcebook runs 280 pages and will include:

* A guide to each major region of Tal’Dorei, featuring story hooks
* Expanded character options, including 9 subclasses and 5 backgrounds
* Magic items such as the Vestiges of Divergence
* New creatures, many featured in Critical Role’s streamed campaigns
* New lore and updated stat blocks for each member of Vox Machina
