Alex Oliveira Says Carlos Condit Fight at UFC on FOX 29 Is Special For Him
Alex Oliveira spoke with MMAjunkie ahead of his fight with Carlos Condit at UFC on FOX 29 this weekend. Highlights are below:
On taking the fight on short notice and being worried about the weight cut: “That was my concern, I was at (approximately 203 pounds)…Now I’m light, thankfully, feeling well. I’m strong, and that’s what matters most.”
On his broken nose being recovered: “It’s ready to be broken again. [laughs] But not now – let’s wait a little.”
On facing Condit: “It’s a very special fight for me. I’m a fan of his. Before I was an MMA fighter, back when I was a server, I was already a fan of his. He had the belt. It’s special…In the octagon, we can’t let respect get in the way of a great fight. I’m in there to brawl. I respect him a lot, but the fan and the respect come later. Now it’s about the win, and it will certainly be mine.”
On what to expect in the fight: “You can expect punches and slaps going around everywhere. It’s going to be fun. But, this time, it’s not going to the third round. Only to the second. Either him or I will fall – most likely, him.”
