Alexis Dufresne spoke with MMAjunkie about her fight with Marloes Coenen at Bellator 155. Some highlights are below:

On her fight at Bellator 155: “I’m super excited to get this opportunity. I didn’t like the way the UFC (stint) ended. I’m coming off two losses. A lot of it had to do personal-life issues. I wasn’t training the way I should have been. It’s my fault. I was in the wrong weight class. Never in my life have I made 135 (pounds). It definitely was hard going into those fights with no energy. I made myself pretty sick from the weight cut. I wasn’t able to show everybody what I was really capable of. And to have such a big opportunity like that and let so many people down, it’s been eating at me for over a year. I’ve done a lot of growing over the last year and changing. I’ve had a baby. Now I’m ready to come back and show the world what I’m really capable of.”

On fighting at 145 pounds: “(Fighting at 135) definitely affected me during training camp; I didn’t do the things that I should have been doing. The weight cut in itself was extremely hard on my body. Now, going into this next fight, after I just had a baby, everybody is doubting me. But I’ll be in shape. I’m going to be ready. I’m not going to be dehydrated or depleted. I’m going to go put on a fight. She’s one of the veterans of this sport. She’s been around a long time. She’s done a lot in the sport. She’s respected by a lot of fighters. It’s one of those things where it’s now or nothing. I’m going to go put on a show.”

On fighting for her family: “I had a baby five months ago, a little boy, and he’s my first child. I found out I was pregnant with him two weeks before my Bellator debut last year. So I’ve been learning how to be a mom, and coming back from that. It’s a huge part of my life. Ninety percent of my time goes to the baby. Training definitely can be limited sometimes. The schedule gets crazy. Late nights, lack of sleep and then training the next day can get to you. But I do believe it’s going to be worth it in the end. At the end of the day, the goal is to provide for him.”
