Anthony Pettis Has Beaten Himself Up a Lot Over the Last Eighteen Months
Anthony Pettis spoke with MMAjunkie about his win over Charles Oliveira at UFC on FOX 21 and more. Some highlights are below:
On his difficult run starting with his lightweight title loss: “Honestly, the last year and a half of my life was rough. Coming from the Wheaties box cover, defeating Gilbert Melendez, quick turnaround to Rafael dos Anjos in March – and losing that fight, to the next three fights, goes through a lot of life processes.”
On trying to turn things around: “As a fighter, I define myself by my last fight performance – wins or losses. And I think I had to go out there and adjust that after these last couple fights. I can’t go out there and say if I lose, I suck. If I lose, I’ve got to get better. I was beating myself up a lot the last year and a half of my life.”
