Bojan Velickovic Discusses Making His UFC Debut in Croatia

April 11, 2016 | Posted by Larry Csonka

– Following his victory at UFC Fight Night 86, Bojan Velickovic spoke with mmajunkie.com, here are the highlights…

On Fighting in Croatia: “I feel absolutely blessed that I got the opportunity for my debut here in Zagreb, Croatia. My hometown is just three hours from here. I left my home three or four years ago to go to the United States. I moved to the United States to be able to train with the best fighters in the best gyms and eventually one day to become one of them and to compete in the UFC. I had opportunities to get on ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ three years ago and lost my fight to get into the house. I ended up with a broken elbow. I had enough money to go back home or to stay in the United States and start working, heal and get back on track. I chose that option; I healed and got back into fighting.”

On Making His UFC Debut: “I won like six or seven fights and, finally, after four years of my journey, I got the opportunity to come back to this area for my UFC debut,” Velickovic said. “To have the chance to do it in front of my family and closest friends and fans from my home country who follow me, it feels absolutely incredible.”
