Brock Lesnar Has Reportedly Not Yet Paid $250,000 Fine Over UFC 200 Failed Drug Test
MMA Weekly reports that WWE Universal champion and former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has not yet paid his outstanding fine stemming from his failed drug test for UFC 200. According to Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Bob Bennett, Lesnar still owes the commission a fine in the amount of $250,000.
Lesnar last fought in MMA at UFC 200 on July 9, 2016. His original unanimous decision victory over Mark Hunt was overturned and ruled a No Contest after tested positive for banned substances.
Bennett initially confirmed in July 2018 that Lesnar was still suspended over the issue as he had not yet paid his sanctioned fine for failed drug test. Lesnar was given the option to pay the fine in one lump sum or set up a payment plan with the Attorney General’s Office in order to clear his indefinite suspension.
The issue arose after talks arose over the summer that Lesnar would face the winner of a heavyweight title bout between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic. Since then, it appears that match-up has gone on the backburner as UFC President Dana White indicated that Lesnar ended up re-upping with WWE instead. However, the Cormier vs. Lesnar match-up has not been entirely ruled out and has been labeled as “up in the air.”
Brock Lesnar did re-enter the US Anti-Doping Agency testing pool he would have to undergo for a return to the Octagon in 2018. In 2018, he underwent five drug tests.
So, if Brock Lesnar ever does opt to fight in the UFC or MMA again, he would have to resolve his fine with NSAC in order to clear his current suspension. He still does not have an official bout lined up with the UFC yet. He’s currently scheduled to defend his WWE Universal title against Braun Strowman later this month at the 2019 Royal Rumble.
