Daniel Cormier vs. Stipe Miocic Rematch Official for UFC 241

May 5, 2019 | Posted by Jeffrey Harris

It’s official. Daniel Cormier will defend his UFC Heavyweight Championship against former champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 241. UFC announced the news this weekend. The fight card is set for later this August in Anaheim, California.

Cormier defeated Stipe Miocic by knockout in the first round at UFC 226 in July 2018 to win the title. He later defended the title in November against Derrick Lewis, winning by submission in the second round.

Miocic now gets an opportunity to win back the title. Miocic is the first UFC fighter in history to defend the heavyweight title three times.

UFC 241 is set for August 17 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The main card will be broadcast live on pay-per-view via ESPN+. It previously looked like Daniel Cormier would face Brock Lesnar for the title at the event. However, Lesnar instead opted to retire from MMA according to UFC President Dana White.
